What the class will do
- Build a sequence · 6 challenges
Build the stated plan
Use all cards under the plan stated in this question. It defines this task’s order; other well-written paragraphs can use different orders for different purposes.
- Choose and explain · 8 challenges
Explain a writer’s choice
Compare what stays the same with what the wording or order changes. An accurate small observation may still be incomplete as an explanation of the effect.
- Match pairs · 8 challenges
Connect wording with meaning
Read each complete phrase or passage. Match its specific supported effect within this microset, without turning a suggestion into a proved hidden feeling.
- Choose and explain · 8 challenges
Choose for the purpose
Judge the change against the supplied writer’s aim and textual evidence. Different aims can justify different choices; vivid or longer is not automatically better.
Using it in class
Everyone explains a word or information-order choice before the representative acts. Original short passages and named plans support interpretation; they do not assess independent composition. First five constructions: 8–12 minutes; all 30: 35–45 with selected discussion.
Give everyone time to think and discuss before one pupil acts at the board. The class explains and confirms together; hints and explanations stay until you move on.
Use an up-to-date browser on a computer connected to a whiteboard or shared display. Touch, mouse and keyboard; optional audio and reduced motion. No pupil accounts or personal devices.
Choose from 5 challenges up to the full activity. Discussion determines the duration: you set the pace.
Teacher Pro access includes all 30 challenges, interactive materials, hints and explanations for this activity.
