What the class will do

  1. Choose and explain · 8 challenges

Choose a revision for a purpose

Read the original draft and its audience or intended meaning. Choose the change that solves the specified focus, clarity or editing problem.

  2. Sort into groups · 6 challenges

    Diagnose the needed edit

Each separate draft card has one intended issue. Group the editing need named in the challenge, using the supplied purpose and owner information.

  3. Match pairs · 8 challenges

Connect the correction to the meaning

Use the stated owner, speaker, intended word or revision goal. Match the correction that preserves that particular meaning within the supplied set.

  4. Choose and explain · 8 challenges

    Check the revised paragraph

Explain the effect of a proposed edit. Keep focus, clear meaning and accurate written forms together; recognizing an edit is practice for later drafting.

Using it in class

Everyone proposes and explains a response before a representative acts. All passages are original practice text. Five tasks: 6–10 minutes; all 30: 35–45 with brief talk. Recognition and ordering support composition; optional oral or paper drafting follows separately.

Give everyone time to think and discuss before one pupil acts at the board. The class explains and confirms together; hints and explanations stay until you move on.

Use an up-to-date browser on a computer connected to a whiteboard or shared display. Touch, mouse and keyboard; optional audio and reduced motion. No pupil accounts or personal devices.

Choose from 5 challenges up to the full activity. Discussion determines the duration: you set the pace.

Teacher Pro access includes all 30 challenges, interactive materials, hints and explanations for this activity.
